The Off Season

With The 2011 Race Season in the books as of 10/22 Team 4 prepares for the off season and the upcoming 2012 season. Team 4 was very successful in the 2011 Season; with Jason picking up 3 feature wins in the Number 4 BRP: 2 at Woodhull and 1 at Blackrock. Brother Brian picked up 2 feature wins at Woodhull in his number 7 BRP and also a feature win at Thunder Mountain in his buddy Jared Hill's Number 93 Street Stock. The brothers also picked many heat wins throughout the season. Both Brian and Jason finished in the top ten in points at Blackrock,in the BRP CanAm Tour, at Little Valley Speedway, and in the BRP Dart Challange. Both Brian and Jason will be back for the 2012 season with new paint schemes and more motivation. We look forward to seeing everyone in the Spring when the green flag is ready to drop again.

The Jet Scores Big Win

Friday night Team 4 traveled to the Little Valley Speedway for another BRP Can Am Series race, also the Black Young Memorial race. Both Brian and Jason drew spots in the first heat with Brian starting on the pole and Jason starting 3rd. Brian jumped out early to take the lead and not looking back picked up his first checkered flag at Little Valley.
At the redraw crew member Dan Smith drew Jason starting spot number 3 and crew member Jon Stuart drew Brian the #6 starting spot. Both Brian and Jason wanted to bring home not only a win, but also the 6’ tall Brock Young Memorial trophy to go along with their dad Larry’s Brock Young trophy. But unfortunately for the Knowles brothers that didn’t happen and when the checkers flew it was Jason crossing the line in 4th place and Brian in 12th.
Saturday Team 4 headed to the Woodhull Raceway for the Susan Whritenour Memorial. In heat 1 Jason finished 3rd and in heat 2 Brian finished 4th. Which put Jason in the top 12 redraw once again, where he drew the #2 starting spot. At the drop of the green Jason grabbed the top spot and set his #4 CRS on cruise. Leading all 25 laps and picking up the biggest win of his racing career. Once in victory lane “The Jet” got out and gave the crowd a nice hood dance. Brian had a good night as well, starting 14th and charging all the way up to finish 4th.
Team 4’s next appearance will be at the Blackrock Speedway on Friday, July 22 for the 4th race of the Little Valley/Blackrock DART challenge. So until next time keep tit pointed straight and the pedal to the floor.

Good Luck Keeps Going

Friday night Team 4 ventured to the black rock speedway in hopes of picking up another win this season and to get some practice in for Saturday nights Brp Can Am Series event. Both Brian and Jason Finished 2nd in their heat races, which gave them good starting spots for the A main. When the checkers flew over the A Main it was Jason in 3rd and Brian in 4th. Not a bad way to start the weekend.
Saturday night was the 2nd Race of the 2011 Brp Can Am series. Jason started 6th in his heat and finished 2nd. Brian started 2nd in his heat and finished 2nd. With both drivers finishing 2nd in there heats made them both eligible for the redraw, with Jason redrawing 6th and Brian going away in 9th. When the green flag waved both Brian and Jason where making their way to the front. That was until lap 10 when Brian got a Left rear flat that forced him pit side and to the attention of the Team 4 Crew. The Crew made quick work of the flat and got Brian back out without losing a lap. At half way Jason had made his way into second and was knocking on the door of the 11 of John water who was the race leader. The Jet gave it everything he had for the last 15 laps of the race, but would have to settle for the runner up spot. Brian crossed the line in 8th. Not a Bad start to the season campaign for the Brp title for the Team 4 Drivers.
With the 2nd tour race in the Books the Team 4 drivers are planning on taking a week off from racing to go over every nut and bolt of their hot rods to make sure that everything is right for the long haul to Merriteville on the 21st of May for race number 3 of the BRP Series.
So until Next time remember don’t eat the dirt it tastes like #%@*!!!!!!

"The Jet" Conquers Woodhull

What a season Team 4 is off to already! Brian was taken out of the race after being involved in a wreck on lap 2 at Blackrock last Friday night and Jason had mechanical issues after leading the first ten laps that took him out of the race as well.
On Saturday April 23 Team 4 headed to Woodhull Raceway to try their luck on the high banks. Brian picked up his first heat win of the season. Come feature time, Brain drew the #2 starting spot and Jason drew the #3. Both Brian and Jason fought hard for the lead until Brian and the leader came together, unfortunately sending both drivers to the back and giving Jason the lead.
With clear air in front of him Jason set his #4 on cruise and never looked back. Saturday night Jason picked up not only his first win of the season, but also his first ever feature win at Woodhull Raceway. Way to go Jason!
Remember next Saturday, April 30th is the first BRP Can Am Series event. Team 4 will be there and Brian and Jason will once again try to tame the high banks in attempt to pick up the first BRP series win of the 2011 season!

The Off Season

With the 2010 race season in the books the drivers and crew of Team 4 are busy preparing the cars for the upcoming 2011 race season.
Some major changes have taken place this off season in the Team stable. With the biggest news being that “The Racin’ Guy,” Larry Knowles has handed his ride over to his son Jason for the 2011 race season. After having another strong successful year in car 4 picking up two feature wins and finishing 2nd in points in the BRP CanAm Series for the 2nd straight year Larry decided it was time to retire while still on top of his game and spend more time with his wife and children. Larry and his wife, Janice are still going to be a major part of Team 4’s success, but Larry will now be a car owner instead of a weekly racer. In this writer’s opinion a lot of drivers are going to breathe a sigh of relief when Team 4 shows up to a track and Larry doesn’t suit up and climb into the number 4 like he has for so many years.
With Larry stepping down Jason has taken over the controls of Larry’s car. At this time the car is at Close Racing Supply in Eldred, PA being repaired and updated for the 2011 season. Some other good news is the 2011 race season won’t be without the number 4 on the track. Jason has taken a claim on the number 4 for the 2011 season instead of his usual 41. So make sure you look for Jason “The Jet” Knowles to wheel the number 4 to a few wins at the Blackrock Speedway and the BRP CanAm Tour the way his father did.
Brian “Pork chop” Knowles has had a very busy off season already. Brian has been in the process of building a new dirt street stock for fellow racer Jared Hill. Car 7 is going to have a few changes and updates made to it this winter, but no major changes are planned for car number 7.
All of Team 4 would like to say thank you to all of our sponsors from the 2010 season and hope to have all of you back on board for the 2011 season. Make sure you check back often as changes to the website are in the works. Also, to get your weekly updates and race results throughout the season. So until next time, hold her to the floor and hope she don’t blow.

"The Jet" Crowned Champ

This Friday night at the Blackrock Speedway history was made. When the Jet arrived at the track he had a 24 point lead in the late model standings, and was looking to pick up his first ever track championship. When the Late Model heats were over it was Jason “The Jet” and “The Racin Guy” Larry picking up the heat wins. After picking up the heat win Jason only needed to start the feature to secure the championship. When Jason hit the track for the feature event just taking the green was not going to be good enough he wanted the double checkers for his 3rd win of the season. By lap 2 Larry “The Racin Guy” had the lead and wasn’t looking back. Jason was making a strong run for the front and while fighting for 2nd a mechanical failure on lap 18 forced “The Jet” to park his hot rod in the infield and watch Larry go on to pick up his 2nd win of the season. Now to the history part, how many families can say that they have a father and two sons that all have track championships? My guess would be not too many.
Saturday night it was Brian’s turn behind the wheel, as he was trying to pick up his 2nd win of the 2010 season, at the Woodhull Raceway. After winning his heat race Brian and Team 4 went to work on his hot rod to get him ready for the feature event, where he would go away in the 7th starting spot. When the green flew Brian was headed to the front and by lap 2 had the lead, and looked to be in control. About mid way the handling went away in his car and he fell back to 4th. On lap 22 Brian jumped to the high side to make the pass and finish 3rd.
What a great weekend of racing for Team 4. A 1st and a 3rd and a new track champion. What more could a team ask for all in one weekend of racing?
With the points now over at Blackrock Jason will put his efforts into the remaining BRP Can Am Series Races, along with Larry who is currently the point’s leader, and Brian who is 4th in series points. With only 5 events left for the 2010 season.
On Saturday September 11th all of Team 4 will be in action at the Woodhull Raceway for a BRP Can Am Series race. Make sure you come and show your support to all the guys as they all try and pick up their first BRP win of the season!

July 20, 2010

Saturday night Team 4 headed for the Little Valley Speedway for a BRP Can Am Series event. As the night got under way Brian and Larry drew the first heat of the night. After the 8 lap heat it was Larry in 3rd and Brian in 6th. In the second heat it was Jason’s turn, when the heat was over it was Jason in 5th. With all 3 cars making the big show it was time to make their changes and hit the speedway for their 20 lap event. As the cars hit the speedway it was Larry starting 6th, Jason 14th, and Brian 16th. On lap one the 2 front runners got together and collected Larry. After taking the number 4 car to the attention of the Team 4 Crew Larry was back on the track and ready for action once again. At the half way point both Jason and Brian where both making their way to the front with Jason 5th and Brian 10th, until the 4th place car spun in front of Jason . When the caution came out the Jet brought the number 41 car to the attention of the crew. After the crew checked the car over the Jet hit the speed way once again. After restarting in the rear after his wreck Larry had worked his way back inside the top ten. With 5 laps to go Larry got around Brian for 5th and continued towards the front. When the checkered flag waved it was Larry in 4th, Brian in 9th and Jason in 13th.
Make sure you come to Blackrock on Friday and root on the Jet and the rest of Team 4.
Team 4 will be appearing at Blackrock Speedway on August 6th for the next race in the BRP Can Am Series.

Back To Back for THE JET

On Friday night Both Jason and Brian would try their luck at the Blackrock speedway. Both trying to pick up their second win of the 2010 season. After both were in the same heat finishing 2nd and 4th it was on to the feature event. Slight changes were made to both car and then it was time to hit the track. Jason took the green flag in 4th starting spot and Brian went away in the 10th starting spot. By lap 4 Brian had moved up to 3rd and Jason was battling for the lead. Then on lap 4 the 4th place car slammed into the back of Porkchop sending him spinning in to the infield and to the back to the field for the restart. When the green flag flew for the restart the Jet was on the outside of the front row and looking to take the lead. On lap 6 the Jet made the pass for the lead and never looked back. At the end of the 20 lap event it was the Jet Picking up his Second win of the season and second win in a row at the Blackrock speedway. In Victory lane Jason was so excited that he was shaking and could barely get his helmet off. All though he didn’t do the roof dance this time he was still just as excited. Congratulations Jason Keep up the good work. Brian would battle his way back from the spin in the early part of the race for a 4th place finish.
Saturday night it was Brian’s Turn to try and make it a weekend sweep for team 4 at the high banks of the Woodhull raceway. Brian would hit the track for the heat and have some motor issue that would only allow him to finish 3rd. Then the crew for the #7 machine went to work to try and get the car ready to make the feature. When the Green flag waved Porkchop was on the track starting in the 8th spot. For the first half of the race Brian was heading to the front. Then at mid way a bad howling noise started coming from the number 7 and would force Brian to hang on and take what he could get. When the checkered flags flew it was another 4th Place finish for Brian. Another good weekend for Team 4 Racing.
Remember that this Saturday is the Scott Dennison Memorial at the Woodhull Raceway, sponsored by Doug Gross Construction. Then Sunday Team 4 will be heading to Humberstone for the 3rd race of the Brp Can am Tour.

The Jet Rockets to First Win!

Last weekend Team 4 made its first 2 appearances on the BRP CanAm Tour. With the first stop at the Little Valley Speedway on Sunday and the second on Monday at the Woodhull Raceway. Larry was strong on both nights finishing 3rd twice. Brian finished 17th on Sunday and 5th on Monday. Then there was Jason who on Sunday had his car all but destroyed in hot laps. The team worked franticly to get the car ready to race. He made the show and finished 12th. Then on Monday Jason looked to have a very fast car from his number 3 starting spot. Then on lap number 4 the rear gear broke in the car and shot Jason across the track in front of the whole field only to destroy his car yet again. He finished 21st on Monday.
Jason and members of Team 4 worked very hard all week on the 41 car. Not sure if they were going to be able to get it repaired in time for the Friday night show at the Blackrock Speedway. But when the green flag flew for the first race Friday night the Jet's car was on the speedway looking to pick up the win. When the green flag of the feature flew it was the Jet on the front row. On a night where The Jet was unsure if he was even going to make it to the track he showed his poise and went out there and did what he had been longing to do for many attempts...WIN. Jason lead the race from flag to flag to pick up his first ever win in a 360 Late Model. Great job Jason, there will be more to come. That win makes 3 wins on the season for Team 4 Racing and the season is still very young. It also means that all 3 drivers from Team 4 racing have a win now. Who’s gonna be the first to get their second?
Saturday night Brian hit the high banks of the Woodhull Raceway to see if he could match his brother’s efforts from the night before. After drawing the number 8 starting spot for the main event Brian had plans of his own to pick up his second checkered flag of the year. But as the laps wore down Brian would have some slight motor issues that would force him to settle for a 5th place finish.
The next two weeks Team 4 will be in weekly action at the Woodhull Raceway and the Blackrock Speedway. Then Team 4 heads for Canada once more to race at Humberstone Speedway for the 3rd race of the BRP CanAm Series.

Larry Rocks the Rock!

What a great night it turned out to before Team 4 Racing on Friday, May 14th at The Blackrock Speedway. With Jason making another bid for his first win in the BRP Class, and Larry back in action after having motor problems the very first week. With his motor back in Larry was ready to try and tame “The Rock”. At the drop of the green flag Jason “The Jet” was on the hammer and looking to stay there for the duration of the night. As the laps ticked off “The Jet” continued to lead the way, but Larry “The Racin Guy” was on the move from his 6th place starting spot. Jason held the lead until the white flag when Larry made a high side pass to take the lead and the win for Team 4. Jason would hold on to finish 2nd and have to wait at least one more week for his first BRP win. Anyway you look at it it’s a great night when your cars finish 1st and 2nd.
Then it was on to Saturday night where Brian would try to tame the high banks of the Woodhull Raceway for the second week in a row. Brian would go off in the 13th starting spot when the green flag waved. After the 25 lap event “Porkchop” would have to settle for a 7th place finish. Not a bad weekend for Team 4.
Remember Team 4 will be making the long trek to Merrittville Speedway this Saturday for the 1st race of the 2010 BRP CanAm Series.

Porkchop picks up win!

Was Friday night going to be the night or was Saturday night going to be the night for Team 4 to pick up the first win of the 2010 season? Friday night Jason "The Jet" Knowles hit the track at the Blackrock Speedway. Drawing the number 2 starting spot in the feature event things were looking good for The Jet. Running hard in 2nd and biding his time for the lead until lap 20 when the 3rd place car flattened The Jet's right front sending The Jet pit side. After taking the car to the attention of the Team 4 crew The Jet made his way back out on the track to finish 9th. Everyone better watch out The Jet is on the prowl. Already 3rd in points and looking for the top spot soon!
Then it was on to Saturday night. Where it was Brian's turn to try his luck on the high banks of the Woodhull Raceway. With a miserbale night in the pits with rain, snow, wind, and frigid temperatures Brian and car 7 drew the number one starting spot for the feature event. As the green flag flew The Porkchop dropped back to 3rd place. He then began to reel the leaders back in. On lap 20 Brian was in 2nd place and challenging for the lead. On lap 22 the leader got hung up behind lapped cars and Brian made the final pass for the lead. At lap 25 the double checkers flew over Brian and car 7, picking up the first feature win of the season for Team 4.
Remember in two weeks all members of Team 4 will be making the long trek to Merritville Speedway for the 1st race of the 2010 BRP CanAm Series. Also be sure to check out the Race Results page because it has been updated.

April 25, 2010

With high hopes for the 2010 race season things sure didn’t start out the way that Team 4 planned. On Saturday April 17th Jason the Jet made the season debut in car 41 on the high banks of the Woodhull raceway. Starting 13th in the feature he made quick work of most of the field that was in front of him. Until lap 12 when a brake issue arose and he had to just settle in and hold his own for the remainder of the race. When it was all said and done the Jet came home with a 5th place finish. Not to shabby for the first night out and having trouble with the car. Then on Friday April 23rd Team 4 planned to make a 3 car assault on the Blackrock speedway. As the cars hit the track all 3 cars looked fast and ready to run and have a great night. High hopes of a good night quickly faded when Larry’s number 4 started smoking during hot laps. Once back in the pit area car 4 was inspected by the crew and determined the motor was in pretty bad shape ending Larry’s night on a disappointing note. As the heat races started Brian and Jason both drew the same heat where it looked like the Jet was going to get his first heat win of the season. But on lap 7 the right front of the Jets car broke and set him pit side to make repairs. By feature time the crew and gotten car 41 fixed and ready to run. Starting last in the feature the Jet had a lot of ground to make up if he wanted to get to the front. He also had to get by his team mate and brother Brian to do it. As the race began both Brian and Jason where making track to the front. But on lap 14 a flat right front put Porkchop in the pits. With only a few laps left Porkchop made it back on the track to finish 10th while the Jet finished just ahead of him in 7th. After having a bad run on Friday Brian decided to make some changes to car 7 and hit the high banks of Woodhull. In the heat race Brian made a high side pass with 2 laps to go to pick up his first heat win of the season. Brian then began the feature in the 8th starting spot right behind Glen Writhnour. As the race got under way Brian and Glen worked their way to the front. On lap 20 Glen grabbed the lead with Brian right on his back bumper. A late race caution on lap 24 gave Brian on last shot at Glen for the win. Taking the green on the final lap Brian got a good run under Glen going into turn 1, the 2 then had a drag race down the back stretch into the final set of corners. As the 2 came off turn 4 they where side by side, But at the line it was Glen getting the win by a little more than a foot over Porkchop. Not bad for having such a bad night the night before.

February 15, 2010

With mother nature blessing us with a snow storm last week, and a majority of the crew for Team 4 working for Doug Gross Construction doing snow removal, things in the Team 4 shop where pretty slow last week. Although some work did get accomplished. Jason finally got the new coat of paint on the 41 car, and has built most of the new cock pit tin for the car. Car 7 has all the cock pit tin in and is awaiting the rest of the inner tin and new body from Close racing supply. Larry is still going over car 4 trying to find ways to make it faster and gain a bigger advantage over the other drivers. Car 4 should also have its new body sometime this week form Close’s. So until next time remember the gas is on the right and the brake is on the left!

February 8, 2010

More progress has been made at the Team 4 Shop this week. Car 41 is all primered and ready for its fresh coat of paint. Larry has been over and has started going over car 4 with a fine tooth comb to make sure its in tip top shape. With members of car 7's crew taking a day away from work on the 7 car to help a fellow racer, Jared Hill work on his new ride for the 2010 season, only a small amount of work was done on car 7 this week. As Team 4 continues to make progress we will be sure to keep you updated on how things are going. So, until next time remember go fast and turn left!

February 1, 2010

As of now things in the Team 4 shop are pretty quiet. The cars have been moved around and car 41 is heading into the paint bay where the chassis will recieve a freash coat of paint. Car 7 is in the process of being put back togehter and car 4 is still waiting for its new tin from Close Racing Supply. All in all good progress is being made in hopes for a great 2010 season.

January 17, 2010

Hi all and thank you for checking out the new Team 4 website! Please check back often for updates on how the season is going for Team 4.
After a sucessful 2009 race season with multiple feature wins by Larry, one feature win by Brian in his rookie season, and with Jason making many close attempts at a feature win only to have the GREEN GREMLINS stop him from getting his first career feature win in a 360 late model. Only time will tell if 2010 will be better for Jason and the rest of Team 4.
As of now all three cars are in the shop being gone over to make sure everything is ready for the upcoming season. Car 4 is on the lift and being inspected and is also waiting for new body panals. Car 7 is in the paint bay where the entire cage has been stripped and sand blasted and is currently waiting for a fresh coat of paint on the chassis. Car 41 is next to go into the paint bay to be stripped and repainted.
That's all for now! Be sure to stop back and check on our progress. Thank you and we will see you at the races!!!
